Welcome!

Welcome to my website! After nearly 2 months of having my Superhero Dynasty Facebook page, I have finally found a website where I can create my own blog, for free! I will be posting as much as I can regarding comic book, movie, TV show, and video game news, opinions, and reviews. I hope you all enjoy!

Who is Pedro Pascal Playing in ‘Wonder Woman 84’?

We’ve known for quite some time now that Pedro Pascal will be appearing in next summer’s Wonder Woman 1984, but it has yet to be revealed who he is playing. Rumors seem to indicate that he is playing a villain, and while nothing has been made official, I made my decisions unbiased to any rumors regarding the film.

Lex Luthor’s Dad

Lex’s father, Alexander Luthor Sr, was teased in 2016’s BatmanvSuperman. In the comics his name is Lionel Luthor, and both versions they are the founder of LexCorp. The movie’s version, as said by Lex, was an abusive father and a really bad guy. In the comics he’s just a normal guy, until suffering from alcoholism leading to his death in 2000. Using him in the movie would be really interesting, as fans would see a Lex Luthor of sorts that might please them this time around!

Maxwell Lord

Debuting in 1987’s “Justice League No. 1” as a villain, Lord is an evil businessman who has since changed his ways and tries to be good. He’s similar to Lex Luthor where they both believe that what they do will help Earth. But when Lord messes up he understands and tries to make up for it. In later comic books, Lord went mad and tried to cleanse the world of super-powered people, causing Wonder Woman to kill him. Since then, as I stated earlier, newer versions of him are more heroic and tries to do more good.

Rex Mason aka Metamorpho

An actor has been cast called, “Rex’s driver,” and another for “Rex’s mother.” The released picture shows Pascal in the back seat of a car with a man driving it. Rex is a former soldier and a man for hire who was hired by billionaire businessman Simon Stagg to retrieve the Orb of Ra located in Egypt. One of the people hired to help Mason, stole the orb and left Mason in the light of an ancient meteor that turned him into Metamorpho, also known as the Element Man. He is a superhero and can morph his body into any of the elements and he uses these newfound abilities for good as a superhero. His wife is Sapphire Stagg Mason, the daughter of Simon Stagg.

Simon Stagg

Maybe that driver was hired by Stagg to drive Rex and maybe the mother is just simply his mother. Pedro Pascal could be Simon Stagg and hired the driver to pick up Rex Mason. Stagg is similar to Lex and Maxwell, only case being is that he is strictly a businessman. He tries to not get involved with superheroes and super villains because he is afraid of super powers, in a way. More so that he is afraid of death and doesn’t want to anger of them, risking his life.

Kent Nelson aka Doctor Fate

Kent Nelson was an archeologist and worked with his father on expeditions. On one of their expeditions they discovered an underground pyramid in Mesopotamia. The pyramid contained an ancient immortal alien named Nabu in suspended animation. Kent released him, but the lever accidentally unleashed a poisonous gas that killed his father. It would later be revealed that Nabu engineered this situation to gain a new host. Nabu decided to mentor Kent in the secrets of the universe, giving him incredible powers through total molecular control. He would serve as an agent of the Lords of Order in their never-ending battle against the Lords of Chaos. He is one of the most powerful sorcerers in the history of DC Comics. Having him would be really cool to see! As Nabu, Kent is also immortal and could pop up in a future DC movie after Wonder Wonder 84.

These are the top 5 characters that I’d bet that Pedro Pascal is playing. My prime guess… Is Simon Stagg. Having Barbara Minerva/Cheetah in the movie as the main villain, maybe Stagg will hire Rex Mason and Barbara before she becomes Cheetah to retrieve the Orb of Ra? Maybe the two of them, in some sort of accident, are both given powers. Stagg might try to do tests on them and that’s where Wonder Woman comes in.

You can see Wonder Woman 84 in theaters on June 5, 2020.

What I Want To See In Matt Reeves’ Batman Trilogy

Last week it was announced that not only has Robert Pattinson signed on to play Batman, but that he received a three picture contract and that Matt Reeves will be doing a trilogy. I didn’t really want to talk about this until it was confirmed from the direct source, and Matt Reeves himself took to Twitter earlier to confirm Pattinson as Batman!

So with that being said, here is what I would like to see happen for each movie in the trilogy, the trilogy as a whole in terms of what Reeves should do, and who should appear throughout the movies with who I want to be cast.

Cast

For castings I chose three actors and actresses that I’d like to see in these roles, with the first option being my #1 choice for each…

Batman: Robert Pattinson
Alfred Pennyworth: Liam Cunningham, Ralph Fiennes or Hugh Laurie
The Joker: Willem Dafoe, Joseph Gilgun or Finn Wittrock
Harley Quinn: Margot Robbie
Hush: Tom Hopper, Donald Glover or Daniel Radcliffe
Lucius Fox: Mahershala Ali, Chris Chalk or Lennie James
Catwoman: Gina Rodriguez, Eiza Gonzalez or Olivia Wilde
Deathstroke: Joe Manganiello
Commissioner Gordon: JK Simmons, Bryan Cranston or Michael Keaton
Batgirl: Jane Levy, Alison Brie or Zoe Kravitz
Clayface: Toby Kebbell, Luke Evans or Ron Perlman
Hugo Strange: Josh Stewart, Donald Sutherland or Andy Serkis
The Riddler: David Tennant, Sebastian Stan or Nicholas Hoult
Poison Ivy: Christina Hendricks, Jessica Chastain or Vanessa Kirby
Scarecrow: Pedro Pascal, Jackie Earle Haley or Adrien Brody
Bane: Richard Armitage, Javier Bardem or Nathan Jones
Harvey Bullock: Mark Addy, John Goodman or Danny McBride
Two Face: Oscar Isaac, Matt Damon or Eddie Redmayne
Killer Croc: Ron Perlman, Peter Mensah or Michael K. Williams
Mad Hatter: Timothy Spall, Toby Jones or Simon Pegg
Ra’s al Ghul: Sean Bean, get Daniel Day-Lewis out of retirement, or Jason Isaacs
Mr. Freeze: Stanley Tucci, Josh Brolin or Ed Harris
Lady Shiva: Gemma Chan, Elodie Yung or Pom Klementieff
Penguin: Nick Frost, Paul Dano or Josh Gad
Carmine Falcone: Charles Dance, Steve Buscemi or Harvey Keitel

The characters that I want to see are some of Batman’s most formidable foes and some of his best allies. A villain like Clayface has been brushed aside for years. In the DC Rebirth he was made a hero until, SPOILER ALERT, Batwoman kills him. When made the main villain of a comic book story, he is outstanding. The Mud Pack is a vastly underrated Batman story that follows Clayface and some newfound “clay” allies of his as they terrorize Gotham.

Lady Shiva is another villain who hasn’t appeared in the movies yet who is essentially a female Deathstroke. Her fighting ability is amazing, and her tandem with Batman is also fun to read. Then there’s a villain like Two Face who was done poorly in a movie, same with the Riddler, that needs to be given another chance on the big screen.

An ally like Batgirl and Lucius Fox should be considered. I would love for The Batman to incorporate Barbra Gordon aka Batgirl and make her a similar age to Bruce Wayne where maybe the two have been friends for years and they both decide to become vigilantes.

Lucius Fox was played perfectly before by Morgan Freeman in the Nolan trilogy with Christian Bale. Mahershala Ali would easily be able to replicate that, and maybe suit up as Batwing instead of his son? No, I doubt that would happen. Or am I?

It has been said that the first film in the trilogy will have the Penguin, sadly, be the main villain. I say sadly because: 1) I am not a huge Penguin fan, and 2) Batman has more villains to use as the main villain than one that we have seen before. On the bright side, Matt Reeves has revealed that his interpretation of Batman will incorporate his elite detective skills! That makes me extremely happy to know. As someone who is a huge fan of British Mystery shows, and just murder mystery shows/movies in general, Batman is my favorite detective. Moviegoers would never know that Batman is not only a detective, but the greatest one ever created! His skills are just that elite. Hearing that a lot of villains will appear in this movie, and that his detective skills will be utilized, I wonder if the movie will be based off of Batman: The Long Halloween which features a villain who goes by the name Holiday as she kills someone on every major US holiday for a year. Batman eventually finds out who she is, and puts a stop to her murderous ways.

So for the first movie, I just want it to “world build”, and by world build I mean build up the Batman world. Introduce a whole lot of villains where we might see one or two in the sequel, and another one or two in the third movie. I would love for Batman to NOT don the cape and cowl until the final 30 or so minutes of the movie. Matt Reeves has said that, “Bruce will be finding his footing as a crime fighting detective.” So maybe within the first 30 minutes of the film Bruce will done a prototype suit while Alfred and Lucius Fox work on an actual suit that we don’t see until the final 30 minutes. Bruce insists that he needs to go out and fight with a cheesy one in the meantime, and this is when we see Alfred not being fully content with Bruce’s decision to be a vigilante.

In terms of his detective work, I’d love for, if he is in fact the main villain, Oswald Cobblepot to come onto the scene by murdering Carmine Falcone. A part of Batman the Animated Series that I really enjoyed, was how the villains’ henchmen called their bosses “boss.” So I don’t want the Penguin to wear his comic book attire. I want him to be a normal looking guy who just wears a white shirt and a black hoodie and we don’t get a clear look at his face until mid-movie when Batman confronts him after finding out that he is Oswald Cobblepot, he then says, “Wrong sir! I am the Penguin!”, then they fight towards the end while the two are wearing their respected costumes. The movie should also explore Batman and Catwoman’s relationship. Maybe not romantically, yet, but have her working with the Penguin, her and Batman run into one another, we see how both are enamored by one another, and by movie’s end she crosses onto the line of hero and is more heroic.

From what I can gather, this movie is going to be a mystery. Rather that be like The Long Halloween, Hushor Penguin murdering Carmine Falcone or something else entirely. That being said we are in for a real treat as Matt Reeves is a great writer and director while actor Robert Pattinson is a rising elite star in Hollywood.

As for the second film, I would love for Batman: Hush to be adapted. To see, yet again, Batman use his detective skills to find out who is messing with people close to him. Instead of using the Riddler as a pawn in the story’s plot, use someone new that we haven’t see before, such as Clayface or the Mad Hatter who’d be ideal as him and the Riddler are similar. I also want Batman and Catwoman’s relationship to enhance in this one. Maybe they share a kiss and whatnot? I’d like for whoever is cast as Dick Grayson in The Batman, to fully start working in the field with Batman in this movie. Batman is gritty, so whoever plays Robin will inevitably be light in tone for this portrayal so that way the movie isn’t completely dark. Robin can be comic relief AND dark himself at the same time, or not really dark, I just mean similar to Batman with their tendencies and whatnot. Kind of of like how he is as Nightwing in Under the Red Hood and Young Justice where he is very similar to Batman, but makes jokes occasionally, is lighter and happier.

For the final film in the trilogy I would love to see it maybe be a 5-year time jump from the second film. Dick is older and we see how he is realizing that being a sidekick isn’t what he wants to do forever and that Batman is training Jason Todd and Barbara Gordon. In this film, the Joker should be the villain. To have a Batman trilogy and not use the Joker in one of those films as the main villain would be fine by me, but is shouldn’t happen. He’s too big, and great, to not have him in. Willem Dafoe maybe? Dafoe and Pattinson are coming off of the highly anticipated movie The Lighthouse where the two have reportedly formed a good relationship… After dealing with disputes with the director in between scenes that sometimes caused the two to get into it. But they could let some of that anger out while going toe to toe with one another as the Batman and Joker!

If Nightwing and Batigirl are indeed getting their own movies still… The third film in this Batman trilogy should set up their own movies. Have Joss Whedon, who is directing Batgirl, and have Chris McKay, who is writing and directing Nightwing, be hands on with Reeves in how the two are used in the trilogy. There are so many avenues that Matt Reeves could follow with his trilogy and I am just beyond excited to see how he tackles this iconic character that so many people have been in love with for 80-years now.

‘Doom Patrol’ Season 1 Review & Lookahead to Season 2

Doom Patrol is one of the best shows that I have ever seen, and frankly, my favorite DC Comics based show of all time. It is executed nearly flawlessly throughout its 15 episode inaugural season. The character development for each of the members of the Doom Patrol was amazing to watch. While the villain was a bit of a let down, and emphasis on let down, that doesn’t take away from the show at all.

The Plot

The premiss of the show was to save Niles “the Chief” Caulder from Eric Morden, better known as Mr. Nobody. While we don’t fully know why Morden wanted to exact revenge on Caulder for some reason, their dynamic and scenes together were pretty great to watch. Timothy Dalton and Alan Tudyk are great actors so of course it would be! Right in the end of the pilot the Chief gets captured and the show dives into its season-long plot immediately.

Robotman “Cliff Steele”, Elasti-Woman “Rita Farr”, Jane “Crazy Jane”, Negative Man “Larry Trainor”, and Cyborg “Victor Stone” don’t know how to fully use their powers. Caulder, from what we see when he’s at Doom Manor in the pilot episode, wanted to shield these people from the outside world and wanted to be a family, of sorts. It turning out that the heroes were actually immortal wasn’t that much of a shocker, being that Rita and each of them haven’t aged since between the 1930s-1980s when all of their origins began! Not knowing how they became immortal in the first place is a huge plot hole. Caulder actually wanted to figure out how they all became immortal and wanted to somehow extract a bit of that immortality for himself also. Or at least that’s what it seemed like because, again, we don’t fully know.

We see him in 1913 when he looks identical to how he does in 2019, and we see that the woman he finds whose been immortal for thousands of years does some ritual to stay immortal. Did Caulder figure it out and use it on the heroes after their horrific accidents after testing it on himself first? This whole thing makes very little sense. But while it is a major head scratcher and beyond confusing….. I don’t let it take away any of the greatness of the show.

Rita Farr/Elasti-Woman

Rita is one of my favorite characters on the show, if not my favorite. She grows so much from the pilot to the season finale and while we don’t see her use her true power of elasticity, we know that she knows what her true power is, thanks to Willoughby Kipling. What I’d like to see for her arc in the inevitable second season, is a lover. Maybe Rex Mason aka Metamorpho?

Cliff Steele/Robotman

Cliff is a fascinating character, he is a robot with the brain of a human! His character growth this season was really well. Being from looking at himself as a monster, to being perfectly fine with who he is, isn’t all the easy to pull off. And I commend the writers for executing it really well. Next season I would like to see him, also, utilize his power of super strength much more. Maybe letting Silas Stone give him an upgrade as well?

Crazy Jane

She is a VERY underrated character in the comics. Having 65 different personalities residing inside of her had been a terrible burden for her to deal with. But by season’s end, she seemed to be in control. Realizing that she can use a personality at will and use their unique powers in battle, was something I was hoping to see by the finale. We didn’t necessarily get that, but it was loosely done throughout the end of the season. For Jane in the next season I would love for her to tone down her temper, and to somehow fully understand that her power is a gift and can be very useful in battle.

Larry Trainor/Negative Man

Talk about characters who grew a lot. This man, after 60-years of fearing the negative spirit inside of him, welcomed it while becoming one with it. Knowing that it cares for him and just wants to live, helped Larry in realizing that it is good, and is his own power. What I would like to see from Negative Man next season is a relationship. Maybe John Constantine or Midnighter?

Victor Stone/Cyborg

While I couldn’t stand him up until the 12th episode as he was very arrogant and self righteous, I grew a liking for the character while he was in the Ant Farm. I can’t deny his growth as the season went on, with taking full spin in episode 12, and I am glad to see that his relationship with his father Silas Stone seemed to be on better terms in the season finale. As for him in season 2….. I want to see them set up his own show possibly.

Niles Caulder/The Chief

I could argue that Niles was in fact season one’s main villain. But he obviously isn’t though. I would’ve loved for him to have told the team in the finale that as he orchestrated their transformations, he had doubt and as time went on….. he grew to love them all as his own family. But that wasn’t the case BUT we will get something like it in season two as the team can’t hate Niles forever. He’s the leader of the team for crying out loud! His secrets though need to end and he needs to be more forthcoming with the Doom Patrol.

As for Mr. Negative, I loved his fourth wall breaking! Not seeing him fight though was pretty ridiculous. He isn’t gone. Him and the freakish Beard Hunter will somehow be freed from he White Space painting and exact, yet again, revenge; hopefully this time with the help of Ultimax, Monsieur Mallah and the rest of the Brotherhood of Evil.

The finale was the weakest episode of the season. A giant Cockroach and Rat, who ended up making love, be the “battle” was a monumental letdown that I will sadly never forget, being for it’s weirdness and uncomfortable moments. Hopefully the season two finale battle and villain(s) will be much better and far more interesting.

Season 2

A second season is all but confirmed. People, not only myself, are calling Doom Patrol one of the greatest superhero shows ever, and THE best DC Comics one ever done. Here are some of the ideas that I have for season 2:

-romance for Rita (Metamorpho?)
-the Brotherhood of Evil
-Ultimax
-Monsieur Mallah
-Candlemaker
-General Immortus
-Lodestone
-Dr. Will Magnus
-Henry Bucher
-Brotherhood of Dada setup for season three

I would love to see Metamorpho, Lodestone, and Henry Bucher come in as “freaks” who seek a “family” to be with, and to use their powers for good. Dr. Will Magnus is also a hero, but I don’t want to see that yet. I want him to be a scientist whose brought in by Silas Stone to keep Niles in check, and to make gadgets for the Doom Patrol, with his heroic side coming out by season’s end. Immortus was name dropped a few times, being the codename for Niles’ immortality fixation, but General Immortus was the ringleader in the comics and will inevitably appear next season. The Candlemaker I mention because of his fascinating connecting to Niles’ extremely overpowered daughter Dorothy Spinner.

Ultimax, aka the Brain, and Monsieur Mallah were mentioned numerous times this season. Them being the leaders of the also mentioned Brotherhood of Evil all might appear as well. It would be really cool to see those two at least appear next season, as the main villains or not! An extremely smart Gorilla and an even smarter sentient brain would be as obscure as it gets. And we saw on season one how obscure and far fetched some of these villains and characters in general are.

The Brotherhood of Dada is another villainous organization that could be set up for season three, or the show could go The CW Arrow-Verse route and make the team face a new villain every week mixed in with the main villain from time to time until the final couple of episodes. But I sure as hell hope not. Doom Patrol established itself as a character driven emotional thrill-ride that doesn’t need to deal with a villain fight every episode.

You can stream all 15 episodes of Doom Patrol season one now on DC Universe.

‘The Flash’ Season 5 Finale Review, and Lookahead to Season 6

Another season of The Flash is in the books! Season 5 came and went, in a flash; no pun intended. The big problem with the show since the around mid-way through season 3, has been the main villain. Reverse Flash is iconic, Zoom was pretty good, Savitar was nice for the first half of season 3 when it was becoming obvious that Savitar was future Barry, the Thinker was fine but just a headache as to why it was so difficult to stop him, and Cicada was pretty bad.

The only good part of Cicada, was their hatred towards meta humans which made that storyline as a whole quite interesting for multiple reasons. But that didn’t take away from the fact Cicada was awful. Since season 3 the writers have wanted to try to use villains that aren’t a speedster. While I am ok with that if they’re done well, these two just have been done terribly! Hopefully the writers will go back to old glory of the show though.

The finale was very well done though. We really don’t know what happened to Nora. Is she never going to be born? Is she going to be end up being born but different? Who knows. But her time on the show, for now because you never know with time travel, is done.

Cisco deciding to take the meta human cure is likely because of his apparent departure from the show. A few months back it was reported that actor Carlos Valdes was going to leave the show for the foreseeable future as he wants to go back acting on Broadway. Leaving the door shut for him to use his powers though is rather upsetting. If Valdes is indeed done with the show, for now, I wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.

Cobalt Blue isn’t really a speedster. In the comics he is Malcolm Thawne who is Barry Allen’s twin brother and the two were separated at birth. He was given to the Thawne’s after the Allen’s weren’t aware that they were having twins and the Thawnes in the next room lost their child. Malcolm’s upbringing was terrible. His parents basically disowned him and he went to live with his grandmother who did love him. She gave him a totem necklace that had been in the family’s possession for centuries that would give the wearing powers.

These powers were mainly just super strength, could conjure up a cobalt colored sword that is extremely power, and he can use the totem to essentially give him some form of super speed. It’s more so just making him seem like he’s running really fast.

Another villain who is a speedster is Inertia. Thaddeus Thawne is a clone of Barry’s grandson from the future Bart Allen. Created by the Thawnes to kill Bart, and to be his arch nemesis. If done on the show next season, he’d clearly get an origin change as the show is done with using future Allen family members, for now, on the show as Nora was just done.

Red Death who was teased heavily on the show this season is a new comic book character. There’s a briefly done new comics series called DC Metal that deal with Bruce Waynes from other Earths who is sick of being Batman and wants powers, and to be feared even more, as a villain. So with characters such as Wonder Woman, the Flash, Doomsday, and various others, Wayne created a device that would essentially put his mind into these character’s brains, and he’d be them and have their powers. So with Red Death on the show, they’d clearly not use Bruce Wayne. Maybe they’d have it that in an alternate reality, another Earth or whatever, maybe Eddie Thawne was jealous of Barry and he stole his powers this way?

Next up is Negative Flash. She is a former lover of Barry who was a goo speedster, but turned evil and insane after Barry Broke up with her. He powers are tied to the Negative Speed Force, which was introduced this season on the show. She’d probably not be a former lover to Barry, unless they want to bring back Patty Spivot.

Johnny Quick is a villainous speedster that I’ve been shocked who hasn’t appeared yet on the show. He is from Earth-3, and Earth that in the comics has all of the DC heroes as villains. Other than being a speedster he doesn’t serve as much of a threat, but he is still pretty cool; his newer costume in the comics is pretty cool as he basically wears a helmet with lightning bolts on the side.

Last up, is Daniel West. In the comics Daniel is Iris’ brother who despised their father Joe because Daniel was such a trouble maker that Joe saw him as a lost cause. But Iris was always there for him and they had a great relationship… That is until Daniel pushed Joe down a flight of stairs rendering him in a wheel chair for the rest of his life. This caused Iris to right off Daniel. He went insane and hated the Flash because he thinks Barry took Iris from her. He became a criminal and stole a car that was powered by a speed force battery and when he crashed it the speed force in the battery fused with his body making him into a speedster, and the new Reverse Flash.

The show could make it be that Joe had his deceased wife had a first child who showed insane tendencies as a child which resulted in him being locked away in an Asylum. I’d guess that Iris would know about this, because there’s already been a time on the show where Joe hid a sibling from Iris in Wally causing her to recent him for the better part of a season (season 3). Maybe Iris and Joe never told Barry about Daniel because they thought that he’d view it as him being the family’s replacement son and he’d get upset.

They could also have it be that Daniel is jealous of Barry for being the West son with superpowers when he thinks it should be him. So maybe Eobard Thawne will seek him out to give him powers?

Cecille and Joe West’s kid Jenna could also be evil in the future. Maybe she felt like an outcast in the future as her sister Iris is a famous reporter, her brother-in-law Barry is the Flash and her brother Wally is Kid Flash. But I don’t think we’ll be seeing future family members for a while, and when we do again, it should be Bart Allen.

Showrunner Todd Helbing had this to say regarding Godspeed though, who could be another choice as well for season 6’s main villain: “There’s small Easter eggs, there’s big Easter eggs. When we were in Season 3, Savitar was talking about DeVoe being one of his biggest foes. We like to leave it up to the fans to try to figure out which its going to be. Who’s maybe a big bad the next season, who’s just a name drop. Godspeed sort of fell into the best of both worlds. We can have an episode with him, introduce him and then bring him back at some point in the future because he’s a major comics villain so we would never want to do a guy like that in just one episode.”

If I were a betting man I’d guess that it is finally the season that we see Cobalt Blue as the main villain. I say that after EVERY season, but I just have a feeling. If not Cobalt Blue, I’m hoping for Daniel West.

Red-Death-flash

Mysterio to Have a Bigger Role in the MCU?

Fans of the Spider-Man mythos know that Mysterio is one of Spider-Man’s greatest foes. So when Academy Award Nominee Jake Gyllenhaal was cast as the villain, fans were very happy. After seeing how the character will look on the big screen, that’s when the excitement really began to ignite.

When Marvel said that Far From Home would be the final film of Phase 3 of the MCU, it made me realize that Tony Stark’s inevitable death would be a huge part in the film for Peter Parker.

In an interview with io9, Far From Home producer Eric Carrol revealed some interesting information, even saying that Quentin Beck’s story arc is similar to Doctor Strange‘s Baron Morodo, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor in 2016.

Mysterio will apparently appear in more Marvel Cinematic Universe movies after Spider-Man: Far From Home, according to producer Eric Carrol. “We’re hopefully setting the stage for something really spectacular.” He went on to say that:

“We wanted to find our ‘in’ and similar to what we did with Mordo in Doctor Strange. We wanted to give them time to have relationships so when and if we get to do something different with Mysterio, it really feels like a betrayal… and we’re hopefully setting the stage for something really spectacular and that feels really Spider-Man, which is, again, if we get to do something else with this character, then they’ve already got this really personal relationship.”

Now knowing this makes me believe that Mysterio very well might end up being in cahoots with the next main villain of the MCU. Him saying in the trailer, “I’m from Earth-833”, will put a chill down comic book readers’ spines who know about that Earth. In the comics there’s an incursion that happens that destroys that Earth and other Earths that tries to destroy every Earth in the multiverse. Maybe they’ll make that be caused by some villain, maybe Mysterio, and will set him or her up as the next main villain of the MCU?

Now for those that believe this could be Galactus, rest assured, that is probably not the case. In the comics it was just some scientific force that was destroying worlds and there was really nothing to do to stop it. But I do believe it could be, in the movies, due to a villain. Galactus is a possibility along with Annihilus and High Evolutionary, who is rumored to appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

I’ve been speculating for a while now based on what Earth he says he’s from, if that is indeed true because Mysterio is notoriously a liar in the comics, is if he’s in cahoots with that villain or not. If they want to dive into this possibility of a villain destroying every Earth in the multiverse, I’d love to see that happen maybe mid-movie where Mysterio hears that his Earth was destroyed by an unknown force, and he then goes mad.

Now why would Quentin Beck join said villain? Well it’s simple. Beck is a failed movie special effects genius who wanted to be world famous. If given the opportunity to be famous throughout the entire universe, he’d take that offer. He also has a blood lust to kill Spider-Man while knowing that it will make him famous, and he has personal beef with the wall crawler. So if in the movie Spider-Man and this Earth didn’t do anything to save his Earth, my guess is Fury knew something was going to happen, he’d unleash his villainous power.

And it’s Jake Gyllenhaal. I want him in as many movies as possible playing Mysterio! I am very intrigued now, even more so, for this movie. Spider-Man being my favorite superhero of all-time and Mysterio being one of my favorite Spider-Man villains… we are in for a real treat.

You can see Spider-Man: Far From Home when it swings into theaters July 2nd!

How Marvel Studios Could Introduce the F4 and the X-Men in the MCU

With Disney and Fox completing their merger, Disney now owns the film rights to the Fantastic Four and the X-Men. So here are my main theories on how Marvel Studios can introduce those iconic characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and who I want to see play them…

Fantastic Four

Cast:

Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic: John Krasinski
Sue Storm/Invisible Woman: Emily Blunt
Johnny Storm/Human Torch: Kit Harington
Ben Grimm/the Thing: Michael Cudlitz
Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom: Dan Stevens
Silver Surfer: Zachary Quinto
Galactus: Charles Dance

The common theory amongst people is that Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Ben Grimm and Johnny Storm did some expedition between the 70s-2000s and are trapped in the Quantum Realm. This would be the laziest way to introduce them. First of all, they went into the Negative Zone in the comic books, not the Quantum Realm. Secondly, who says they need to be have been around that long? How I’d introduce Marvel’s first family is simple. I’d have their origin take place in the present day in the MCU where Reed Richards puts a team together of his best friend Victor von Doom, Reed’s childhood sweet heart Sue Storm, her brother Johnny, and Ben Grimm whose one of Johnny’s close friends and will be the muscle. Reed and the team go to the Negative Zone to try to get antimatter as it’s believed to be a source of unlimited power.

Something goes wrong on the trip home and the team is bestowed with their own unique powers, and then you take it from there. Plain and simple. Now that SPOILER ALERT……………. Tony Stark is dead, some fans don’t say, “how has Tony not known about Reed?” Which I guess is correct, but at the time of Tony’s demise Reed didn’t posses any super power that would make Tony want Reed to join the Avengers or anything like that. Maybe he did know about Reed, as Reed is the smartest character in entire pantheon of Marvel characters.

X-Men

Cast:

Magneto: Jason Isaacs
Professor X: Ralph Fiennes
Wolverine: Luke Evans
Jean Grey: Saoirse Ronan
Beast: Toby Kebbell
Mister Sinister: Bryan Cranston
Colossus: Danila Kozlovsky
Rogue: Olivia Cooke
Nightcrawler: Timothee Chalamet
Cyclops: Sam Claflin
Storm: Gugu Mbatha-Raw
Mystique: Eva Green
Iceman: Dylan O’Brien
Kitty Pryde: Lily Collins

This theory is my prime theory that I am going with. I believe that they’ll write over the Inhuman outbreak from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and call it a Mutant outbreak. They’ll just change that and say it was Mutants instead. They’ll just write off what they’ve done with Inhumans entirely, just say that there was an outbreak of a Kree virus that gave people powers and that they’re Mutants. That happens on S.H.I.E.L.D. but the movies will just mix it up and call them Mutants, and not reference any of he Inhumans that we saw in the shows.

Charles Xavier has taken some of them and has begun to teach them how to control their powers, after he wasn’t in fact a Mutant, but was born with his powers in general and has taught himself how to control his own powers. This isn’t baby Mutants being born with powers like in the comic books, but people who are old enough to know how their lives once were before they became Mutants, then they get powers, then friends and or loved ones write them off and then Xavier comes in to help them.

We’d see how these people who are either children, young adults, or adults deal with becoming super-powered people. Maybe in the first X-Men movie we see a broken Storm who caused a hurricane and killed hundreds. Maybe we see a depressed Cyclops who killed his girlfriend with his heat vision. Maybe we see Iceman who froze his boyfriend while they hugged. Maybe we see Jean Grey who just disintegrated her family with her powers. Maybe we see a Beast who looks at himself like he’s a monster. Maybe we see a terrified Rogue who killed her best friend while giving her a hug. And lastly, maybe we see a Deadpool who doesn’t care about his newfound abilities and finds to cool.

In the comic books we see these X-Men characters raised as Mutants since they were born. So they don’t know what it’s like to be normal. This way that I hypothesized we’d see them miss their old lives, and still be a little depressed, until Professor Charles Xavier comes in and takes them under his wing to teach them how to control their powers. We’d see them introduced after the Decimation, Thanos’ snap, so the world will be on edge already. Having super powered people coming out of the shadows and making theirselves known, the world might be scared. Maybe J. Jonah Jameson of the Daily Bugle will be in here also saying on the TV how “the world is now safe, we don’t need these super powered freaks popping up all over the world!”

This introduction would tie into Avengers: Endgame, would make us feel for these heroes more so than how we do in the comics or in the Fox movies, and it would be a little bit more interesting as well.

‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ Trailer Description Has Been Revealed

Sony’s had a panel at Brazil Comic Con in Sao Paulo this weekend, and Collider’s Steve Weintraub was there and revealed a breakdown of what happens in the trailer.

Tom Holland and Jake Gyllenhaal surprised fans with an appearance at the Far From Home panel. They were not expected to attend, but they showed up to help present the first trailer for the upcoming Sony-Marvel movie. Filming was not allowed in the convention hall and there is no date yet for when the trailer will be released online.

The trailer begins with Peter Parker (Tom Holland), Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), and Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau), who tries to flirt with May. Peter is going on a school trip to Europe with Michelle/MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon), and, while packing his clothes, he leaves his Spider-Man suit at home. His objective is to go overseas and just take a brief rest from his life as a superhero.

The group goes to Venice, Italy, sees the canals, and there is some sort of budding romance between Peter and Michelle.

Soon after that, we see Peter in a hotel room with Ned when a mysterious person suddenly appears and shoots a tranquilizer dart at Ned. It is Nick Fury, who is calling on Spider-Man for a mission.

Several new uniforms are presented like the Stealth Suit (similar to the Noir Suit) and the classic uniform with the spider webs under the arms.

At the end of the trailer, Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio makes his entrance to help Spider-Man against a new enemy, Hydro-Man, in a breathtaking sequence. Yes, it looks like Spider-Man and Mysterio are going to fight together in this movie!

The sequence sees Hydro-Man emerge from the Venice waters and attack the Italian city in a sequence full of explosions, screams and chaos. Spider-Man starts to fight him but gets into a little trouble and that’s when Mysterio appears to help him at the end of the trailer.

It should also be noted that, in the trailer at least, Mysterio wears his armor but not his distinctive fishbowl helmet. He also appears to work in some capacity for Nick Fury.

There was also no mention of the events of Avengers: Infinity War in the trailer.

Speaking at CCXP, Gyllenhaal said that, “the central point of the film is the relationship of Peter with Mysterio, which is a completely new dynamic.” He also said that, “Mysterio is brought in by Nick Fury to hunt down the Elementals.” Gyllenhaal adds that, “Mysterio is very knowledgeable of them and aims to take them down to make the world a safer place.”

Holland said that, “Peter Parker and Mysterio will be “brother in arms” at the beginning of ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ as they take on the Elementals. In the comics the Elementals were a group of Spider-Man villains Sandman, Hydro-Man, Whirlwind, and Molten Man who represent the four elements; Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water.

Aunt May will also, reportedly, support Peter being Spider-Man, who will also have a possible relationship with Happy Hogan.

Mysterio aka Quentin Beck is one of my favorite Spider-Man villains. Him being the main villain of this upcoming Spider-Man movie is fantastic. I have been waiting a long time to see him grace the big screen! So, who is he? I’ll explain…

Debuting in The Amazing Spider-Man #13, Quentin Beck is a special effects wizard and stunt man working for a major Hollywood studio with dreams of making a name for himself in the film industry. However, he came to see his career in special effects as a dead-end job. His attempts to become an actor were poorly received, but he realized that his expertise in illusions could make him an effective super-villain.

He used his amazing special effects abilities to become a formidable foe against the wall crawler. His powers consist of, being a special effects, and illusion expert, master hypnotist and magician, amateur chemist and roboticist, with exceptional hand to hand combatant and use of weapons. It’s never really confirmed, but most fans of the comics, myself included, believe that Mysterio is somehow involved in the mystic arts. That something, or someone, gave him magic.

It will be very exciting to see him, let alone being played by Jake Gyllenhaal! Him being a good guy at first, and then switching sides in interesting. Him and Spider-Man being “brothers in arms” is fascinating, I just wonder if he’ll be yet another major Spider-Man villain in the MCU that knows Spider-Man’s identity in the MCU? If you think about it, every hero that we’ve seen before has revealed their identity to the world. Spider-Man is the only one who hasn’t. So that alone is interesting.

You can see Spider-Man: Far From Home in theaters on July 5th, 2019!

‘Daredevil’ Season 3 Review

Marvel’s Daredevil has been one of the most consistent shows in recent memory in terms of having a great story, great characters, and a compelling balance between action, and serious scenes to date. Season 1 is outstanding and while season 2 took a small step back, it was still a stellar season! Season 3 on the other hand is downright beautiful.

From the growth of characters that we’ve seen, to the rise of newcomers such as Agent Ray Nadeem, and Benjamin Poindexter. Karen Page finally got her origin story brought to light, while we see a pivotal part of Foggy’s life being his family throughout the season. Fisk on the other hand gets a perfect chapter written into why he is such a phenomenal villain. With Matt Murdock we see a rebirth that makes him into frankly my favorite hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, by far.

The storyline was heavily based off of famed Daredevil comic book story “Born Again.” They adapted it perfectly and followed it very well, even while changing a few aspects here and there. As someone who has been waiting for this season since it was announced mid-way through 2016, I am extremely pleased with this season.

Matt, Foggy, and Karen finding their way back into one another’s lives and their stories was dished out masterfully. Same goes for Wilson Fisk who while I hate the guy, I love the guy at the same time. He is an amazing villain and Netflix does a great job at creating great villains in general. Which leads me to next character, Benjamin Poindexter aka Bullseye.

I have known basically since actor Wilson Bethel was cast for this season that he was playing Bullseye. One of my biggest fascinations in comic books has always been villains. I love reading a villain’s origin story and seeing what happened to them to cause them to turn to a life of villainy and to ruin their life all-together. In Dex’s case, it was not having a loving family, and his great ordeal of mental illnesses that caused his downfall. They followed his origin pretty well to the comics, especially with him being a baseball player! Adding in the mental health was a very nice touch, while his fixation with Julie Mercer was a sad, and twisted case. It being the driving force into Dex’s life and the choices he’d make was a very nice touch also. Seeing Bullseye’s inevitable return will be a treat to witness.

As for Wilson Fisk aka the Kingpin, we have not seen the last of him. Seeing how once he got out of jail everyone on the show knew and was terrified of him, and with Matt going after him, I highly doubt that we’ll see actor Vincent D’Onofrio’s wish of squaring off with Spider-Man anytime soon. His growth as a formidable villain in the Marvel world was astounding. We won’t see him in season 4, but he will return at some point down the line in some way shape or form. Perhaps in the same way that he appeared in season 2, if not an extended tenure this time.

Agent Nadeem was a great character also. I knew that he was going to die the moment the shooting went down at the New York Bulletin in episode 6. So much blood was on his hands, I’m frankly surprised that he didn’t take his own life after making that video for his wife, which is what brought Fisk down. Part of me believed for a while that maybe he’d become Daredevil’s sidekick, which Matt needs SO badly. But losing Nadeem made sense, he was going to go insane anyways based on what he had done.

All in all, season 3 is a true masterpiece. Greatest TV show season that I have ever, and will ever, witness. I will be going into greater detail on season 3 on this week’s episode of Big Talk with Big Nate on Wednesday at 4pm on WMLN-91.5, and on the TuneIn app under WMLN-FM.

I give Daredevil a 9.5/10!

Breaking News: ‘Iron Fist’ Has Been Canceled by Netflix; But He will Return

Last night it was reported by Deadline that Netflix has canceled Iron Fist after two seasons. While season one is downright awful, season two was great. Clearly not great enough though as while viewership was way up, it wasn’t enough to keep the show going.

While this is very sad news for myself and for other fans of the show and of the character, don’t lose hope! Entertainment Weekly reported just a short hour ago that Finn Jones will return as Danny Rand/Iron Fist on the other Marvel-Netflix shows. I hope that we haven’t seen the last of Colleen Wing, or Ward Meachum either. A Heroes for Hire, and Daughters of the Dragon shows need to happen.

While his show was definitely the weakest of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and The Punisher… It’s sad to see this one come to an end, for now at least. Deadline also mentioned in their report that it is POSSIBLE that Disney’s streaming service could pick up the show. That would be a great bridge to the two streaming service platforms’ Marvel shows. They are also working on another Marvel show on there as well so it is going to be very interesting to see what they do.

Some, myself included, believe that this will open Netflix up to possibly do either a Moon Knight, Ghost Rider, or a Blade show as they have been rumored for Netflix for around 3 years now.

Make sure to listen to my radio show Big Talk with Big Nate every Wednesday at 4pm-7pm on the radio on WMLN-91.5, or on the TuneIn app under WMLN-FM. This week’s show will be on Monday though from 7pm-9pm as there are soccer games on Wednesday during my show.
