We’ve known for quite some time now that Pedro Pascal will be appearing in next summer’s Wonder Woman 1984, but it has yet to be revealed who he is playing. Rumors seem to indicate that he is playing a villain, and while nothing has been made official, I made my decisions unbiased to any rumors regarding the film.
Lex Luthor’s Dad
Lex’s father, Alexander Luthor Sr, was teased in 2016’s BatmanvSuperman. In the comics his name is Lionel Luthor, and both versions they are the founder of LexCorp. The movie’s version, as said by Lex, was an abusive father and a really bad guy. In the comics he’s just a normal guy, until suffering from alcoholism leading to his death in 2000. Using him in the movie would be really interesting, as fans would see a Lex Luthor of sorts that might please them this time around!
Maxwell Lord
Debuting in 1987’s “Justice League No. 1” as a villain, Lord is an evil businessman who has since changed his ways and tries to be good. He’s similar to Lex Luthor where they both believe that what they do will help Earth. But when Lord messes up he understands and tries to make up for it. In later comic books, Lord went mad and tried to cleanse the world of super-powered people, causing Wonder Woman to kill him. Since then, as I stated earlier, newer versions of him are more heroic and tries to do more good.
Rex Mason aka Metamorpho
An actor has been cast called, “Rex’s driver,” and another for “Rex’s mother.” The released picture shows Pascal in the back seat of a car with a man driving it. Rex is a former soldier and a man for hire who was hired by billionaire businessman Simon Stagg to retrieve the Orb of Ra located in Egypt. One of the people hired to help Mason, stole the orb and left Mason in the light of an ancient meteor that turned him into Metamorpho, also known as the Element Man. He is a superhero and can morph his body into any of the elements and he uses these newfound abilities for good as a superhero. His wife is Sapphire Stagg Mason, the daughter of Simon Stagg.
Simon Stagg
Maybe that driver was hired by Stagg to drive Rex and maybe the mother is just simply his mother. Pedro Pascal could be Simon Stagg and hired the driver to pick up Rex Mason. Stagg is similar to Lex and Maxwell, only case being is that he is strictly a businessman. He tries to not get involved with superheroes and super villains because he is afraid of super powers, in a way. More so that he is afraid of death and doesn’t want to anger of them, risking his life.
Kent Nelson aka Doctor Fate
Kent Nelson was an archeologist and worked with his father on expeditions. On one of their expeditions they discovered an underground pyramid in Mesopotamia. The pyramid contained an ancient immortal alien named Nabu in suspended animation. Kent released him, but the lever accidentally unleashed a poisonous gas that killed his father. It would later be revealed that Nabu engineered this situation to gain a new host. Nabu decided to mentor Kent in the secrets of the universe, giving him incredible powers through total molecular control. He would serve as an agent of the Lords of Order in their never-ending battle against the Lords of Chaos. He is one of the most powerful sorcerers in the history of DC Comics. Having him would be really cool to see! As Nabu, Kent is also immortal and could pop up in a future DC movie after Wonder Wonder 84.
These are the top 5 characters that I’d bet that Pedro Pascal is playing. My prime guess… Is Simon Stagg. Having Barbara Minerva/Cheetah in the movie as the main villain, maybe Stagg will hire Rex Mason and Barbara before she becomes Cheetah to retrieve the Orb of Ra? Maybe the two of them, in some sort of accident, are both given powers. Stagg might try to do tests on them and that’s where Wonder Woman comes in.
