The Future Of The Netflix/Marvel Shows

The best shows on TV are in my opinion the Marvel ones over on Netflix, with CW’s DC shows next. In this day and age, where Marvel is owned by Disney, we will never see a dark Marvel movie. In other words, characters such as Carnage, and Venom would have to be toned down quite a bit to get them onto the big screen. Carnage being a cannibalistic, serial killing, mad man, with Venom a little bit similar, is something that Disney would sadly never dream of doing. Even Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had to be bumped up to a later time slot because of Ghost Rider. There are many more characters throughout Marvel that deserve to be in a movie, that will probably never get the chance the embark on the road to glory in a movie. I will run through a few characters that fit that certification, who I think should be given the chance to shine on Netflix, after I go through the current Netflix/Marvel schedule.

As of now, Iron Fist is scheduled to be released on March 17th, with The Defenders to debut this summer, with The Punisher in the fall. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and, Luke Cage are all also scheduled for new seasons sometime soon, with Iron Fist likely to follow as well. With the rumor of Disney wanting to buy Netflix, I have no idea if that has actually materialized further, or if it was just a mere rumor, I’d imagine that if they do buy, than more Marvel characters would be given the green light on Netflix. Considering the current love of superheroes now, and the popularity that Marvel has with their movies and Netflix shows, Netflix really should consider dropping most of their other adequate original shows and replacing them with Marvel heroes… or villains?!

1. Moon Knight

Moon Knight, Marc Spector, is a character that will probably never be given a movie by Disney… considering that his physiological/mental disorders are pretty extreme. But he is a very interesting character, who some even call Marvel’s Batman. He would certainly shine if given the opportunity on Netflix, and would bring a plethora of great villains to choose from. I’d cast Dexter‘s Michael C. Hall for the role.

2. Ghost Rider

The Spirit of Vengeance is one of my most favorite characters in Marvel. There have been quite a few characters to helm the mantle of the Ghost Rider, such as Carter Slade, Robbie Reyes, Danny Ketch, and Alejandra Jones, but none of them have been as spectacular as the most popular… Johnny Blaze. Blaze was a Daredevil who made a deal with the Devil, Mephisto, to help cure his friend’s cancer. Any of these 5, maybe not Alejandra because she’s evil, would make for an awesome TV show!

3. She Hulk

Many people seem to want for She Hulk to get a show on Netflix. But since Hulk will never get a movie, She Hulk could be where we could see some Hulk villains/allies, such as the Leader, Rick Jones aka A-Bomb, Zzzax, Tyrannus, a female Maestro, and maybe Abomination and Brian Banner. Thaddeus Ross would also have to make an appearance, maybe as in introduction to Red Hulk as well? So She Hulk could definitely be the most interesting of these candidates.

4. Blade

Blade has always been someone that fans have wanted to see again. Wesley Snipes, before he didn’t pay his taxes and ruined his career, killed it as Blade in the Blade trilogy! He’s even said that he’d want to return. That might be a little far fetched, but Blade, the half vampire half human vampire slayer deserves to be done again! Possibly seeing notorious Spider-Man villain Morbius the Living Vampire as the main villain, would be amazing!

5. Spider-Woman

I’ve never really seen Spider-Woman as a great charcter, same could be said about Jessica Jones before she shined on Netflix! But if given the chance on Netflix, we could easily see some B-C List Spider-Man villains, such as Chameleon, Jack O’Lantern, Overdrive, Goldbug, Raptor, or maybe even Alistair Smythe, or Hammerhead? Smith essentially being a lesser Norman Osborn/Green Goblin, and Hammerhead being a lesser Kingpin. So she’d certainly have my vote for a TV show.

6. Ka-Zar

Ka-Zar is basically Tarzan, but much cooler. He has a pet Sabertooth Tiger and lives on a prehistoric island that has dinosaurs! The CGI for this show might kill Netflix, if not popular, but if given a lighter tone to make it able for kids to at least watch it, because of dinosaurs, but still consist of the mysterious manners that has been behind Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage, it could shine the brightest since it could appeal to all age groups.

7. The Sinister Six

Now before you click away, let me tell you why this could be the most intriguing of all of these. The Sinister Six in the comic books consisted of Doc Ock, Vulture, Electro, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, and Sandman. Doc Ock formed the team in order to hunt down Spider-Man and to kill him. I’m not saying the Sinister Six should be those villains, it should be a mixture of a Spider-Man villain, an Iron Man Villain, a Captain America villain, a Daredevil villain, a Jessica Jones villain, and a Doctor Strange villain… or just 3 movie heroes and 3 TV show heroes. This could be a way to tie in the shows to the movies even more, where after the season ends it could cause a movie team up to fight them. It should be an 8 episode season, like The Defenders wil be. The first 6 episodes should each be an origin story for each member, with the next 2 begin a battle, organized by the smartest member, and then he recruits them and tells them the plan to kill some of the the world’s strongest heroes. Or maybe 6 villains that we have seen in the shows and movies before and they want revenge?! This is a little far fetched of an idea, but it could easily be an all time great series, that could revolutionize the way we look at villains in movies and TV shows.

8. Shadowland “The Defenders season 2”

This is where it would all comes together. Everything that the shows leading up to this have been for… Shadowland. Shadowland would be a way to act as a continuation for our current list of characters. In Shadowland Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Elektra, Kingpin, Colleen Wing, Misty Knight, Spider-Man, Moon Knight and The Punisher all play a role in the story. Spider-Man could definitely be replaced with Jessica Jones. So it would be easy to see Marvel take another set of 4 shows and have them tie into another culmination mini-series which would be Shadowland. We would have enough of the characters from the comic arc for it to not venture off too far from the established story. Shadowland would primarily follow Daredevil on his quest to Japan and his return to Hell’s Kitchen. Shadowland would bring Daredevil into conflict with a majority of the characters listed above and, could possibly bring both Spider-Man and Ghost Rider into the fold as well (but that’s not likely to happen, for Spider-Man at least.)

These are just some of the many Marvel characters that could easily shine on Netflix. Please let me know what you thought, and comment other heroes or villains that you’d like to see given a chance over on Netflix!
