After long wait, we finally got our first look at December 15th’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi! Episode 8 is bound to be a great one, as Mark Hamill’s iconic Luke Skywalker spoke more words in the trailer than in The Force Awakens! But the trailer was very nice, here is a link to it below…
Now I’ll breakdown some of the biggest moments from the trailer.
Just like the first trailer for The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi‘s first trailer begins with Rey looking shellshocked as TFA began with Finn looking shocked.

First look at Leia!😢 RIP
Kyle Ren’s helmet, destroyed? This trailer was very similar to The Force Awakens‘, where Vader’s helmet was destroyed, now Kylo’s. It will be interesting to see how this happened.
I have heard that these are scenes of Yoda’s hut. Frank Oz, the voice of Yoda, has been long rumored to appear in The Last Jedi. So this idea might not be too far fetched.
Luke teaching Rey! I’ll get into him teaching her a little later on, but this is what it is. It’ll be great to see the 2 Jedi together working in action!
The Resistance, vs the First Order! This planet, Crait, is new to the Star Wars world. The director of The Last Jedi, Rian Johnson, said that the planet is a mineral planet. Kyber Crytals maybe? Maybe the First Order wants to destroy the planet because of that?!
This is an interesting shot of Finn. As we know, he was not doing too well after being nearly killed by Kylo Ren. He’s a charcter that wasn’t too well received by some fans. So I am hoping that they’ll evolve him in a much better way throughout the movie.
Poe, and BB-8! While BB-8 took the hearts of millions, some comic book die-hards knew that Poe, played by Oscar Isaac, was Apocalypse in X-Men: Apocalypse, so it was hard to like him. But he was arguably the best new charcter in the franchise, after Rey of course.
The Millennium Falcon! It’ll be so sad to see the Falcon in action without Han Solo. More sad than Han being killed by his insane son, was seeing Chewbacca afterwards sad. Which will lead me to wonder, who will die in this film? Leia? Luke? Chewbacca? Considering that Leia, Carrie Fisher, will not be CGI into episode 9, I believe she’ll die in this film.
Ben Solo aka Kylo Ren. Without a doubt the most interesting charcter in the movie. Han and Leia’s son turned evil after being taught by Luke for a while. Some have speculated that he’ll turn good eventually. I could see it happening, but it is definitely quite a big stretch.
The First Order, in front of Luke an R2-D2, destroying what I believe is, the last KNOWN, Jedi Temple. It will be cool if there are more Temples. The 7 episode movies have not done a great job at showing the Jedi Temples, so hopefully we see a one or two in this movie.
Luke saying, “I only know one truth. It’s time for the Jedi, to end.” Luke is not a Sith Lord, as some have stupidly speculated. The beginning began with him giving a motivational speech if you will, most likely to Rey while training. My guess is that this is right after him and Rey meet for the first time. He saw that Obi-Wan couldn’t keep his father from being seduced by the dark side, so he wanted to do better. Which is when he trained Ben Solo and others, before Ben went crazy and killed all of them. He couldn’t stop Ben from becoming evil, so he doesn’t want to risk training someone in the ways of the force, only for them to go evil.but he’ll come around, probably within 30-50 minutes of the movie.
The trailer was really good! It didnt show too much, and it didnt show too little. I am so excited for The Last Jedi!
